Written by Gar Cole & Paul Sweeney. We would like to introduce and congratulate the three owners whose cars have been selected for our stand at the 2022 Practical Classics Restoration Show. Sincere thanks to all those who offered their cars - we had a fantastic selection to work with and all were worthy but sadly we can only take 3, which made the selection process very difficult indeed. If we are lucky enough to be allocated a larger stand, we may be able to add a fourth car later - but we won't know the stand details until the last minute so for now we are limited to three cars. The cars we have chosen are:
This year we are working hard on a themed stand that recreates the small independent car garages that were a regular fixture in most suburban areas before the dominance of the mighty main dealer showrooms and car supermarkets.
The stand will be using a lot of period paraphernalia to help create the feel of the late 1970s - imagine the small caravan as ‘the office‘ surrounded by Union Jack bunting, coloured lamps around the fences, cheesy sales slogans in white marker on the windscreens, cardboard cutouts of celebs of the day with period-correct music playing and even the Admin team dressed up as salesmen in the full fur-lined camel coats and trilbys a la Arthur Daley. As you can tell, the emphasis will be on fun and nostalgia; hopefully the show-going public will really see what we are trying to achieve and come and interact with us. We would love your support if you're going to the show so please come and say hello; we’re doing it for you all and our great group. |
