Written by Paul Sweeney. It's a little over 2 years since we joined YouTube as a club with our own channel and we have now published an incredible 80 videos. Each video represents quite an investment in equipment, time and some money by those involved.
The ever-growing band of YouTube Creators helping us achieve this includes Gar Cole, Anthony Osborne, Graham Adams, Gus and Tony Brooks, Ian Woodward, Eric Dalton, Mike Peake, Keith, Paul Clappison, Mark Wilson, Brian Allison, Andy Perman, Paul Cheetham, Chris Reader, John Dickson, Jim Scott, Michael Taylor, Bernard Owen, Kurt Lawrence, John Ticehurst, John Lonergan, Dominic Coleman. Sorry if I missed you - I tried not to! The point is that without all the above, we'd have no video footage, no photographs and nothing to film, so a big thank you to all of you. I hope you feel the results justify the effort; with continued teamwork we can only get bigger and even better. Also sincere thanks to all those who follow the channel - and if you haven't yet, please check it out and please subscribe; it's free and will really help us out - here's the link: https://bit.ly/3Uh2ARn We're proud to display three British classics at this year's Classic Motor Show at the NEC and all three definitely embody the show theme, "Part of the Family". Displayed alongside information boards telling their histories, each has a fascinating and even moving story to tell. Our three are the Range Rover that's been in Lincoln's family for 45 years odd, Daniel's gorgeous restored 1978 British Leyland Mini and Mike's Herald, Poppy - all very definitely "Part of the Family". Come and visit us in Hall 5 to see them for yourselves! Our Group YouTube channel was created in May last year and we are delighted to have achieved 20,000 views to date! We always said this was a marathon rather than a sprint and our audience is steadily growing as our video production skills and experience grows. We were delighted to be approached by the team behind the very successful 'Classics World' YouTube channel recently - they were looking for classic car clubs for a new regular video feature they had planned. With us both being in the Lancaster Insurance stable, they wanted to film some of our members and their classics for a feature at the British Motor Museum, Gaydon. Of course we were delighted to be asked and here are the results, featuring interviews with Gar, Nick and Lincoln. Graham, Ian and Garry also lent their support, bringing their classics along to create an impressive display in front of the Gaydon museum - many thanks, guys! Thanks to Joe from Classics World and Andrew Evanson from Lancaster for making us feel so welcome - it was a great day out and we are proud to be featured on such a successful channel. Our YouTube channel is 12 months old already and is steadily building its own audience. Our small but dedicated YouTube production team is working hard behind the scenes to continuously improve the quality of our output - it's an ongoing work in progress but here's our most viewed to date. March was a fantastic month for us on YouTube - we published no less than 7 new videos which amassed some 3,600 views totalling more than 170 hours' viewing time and adding 28 new subscribers taking us up to 193. The latest milestone reached is 9,000 views - the certificate can be seen below.
By Paul Sweeney. We recently reached several key milestones on our YouTube journey, thanks in no small part to our involvement in the recent Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show at the NEC. We filmed and published a video for each of the 3 show days Friday-Sunday plus the Setup Day Thursday, making four videos in total. If you missed any they are still available to view as follows.
Performance Milestones achievedThese four videos have contributed approximately 1,700 views and are continuing to attract online viewers both from within our ranks and beyond. As a result, we recently passed 3 key YouTube performance milestones; 8,000 views, 50 uploads (videos published) and 190 subscribers. See the certificates below. how you can helpWe still need many more group members (plus your family and friends) to subscribe to our channel to help it grow. Our sincere thanks in anticipation of your support - we can't do this without you. By Gar Cole. What can I say apart from ‘ Wow‘! What a fantastic weekend at the Restoration Show; the team worked brilliantly together to bring my ideas to life. I am a worrier and get stressed because I care about the group and how we are perceived but I need not have worried - everyone checked with me every step of the way if it was how I wanted it. Special thanks to Mike Peake and Ian Woodward for being my right hand ‘henchmen‘ all weekend and keeping my inner Diva under lock and key. Also huge thanks and respect to the other car displayers Jim Scott and his Cortina who drove down all the way from Gretna Green and Andy Perman who drove the VDP all the way from Portsmouth. Now that’s dedication for you! My appreciation also goes to Eric Dalton, Lincoln Hunt, Anthony & Pat Osborne and Liam's Page who all provided banners and memorabilia which greatly enhanced our stand as well as giving up time and helping assemble the wood support frames. Finally massive respect to Head of Admin Paul Sweeney. Despite living in New Zealand I would film the day's GoPro footage and upload it to the cloud. Over breakfast his time Paul would edit the videos, vastly improve them and have them ready for us to watch the next morning. The technology we have now blows my mind. Have a good rest guys, you really earned it.
Lancaster Insurance to Sponsor our YouTube channel! We are thrilled to announce that just months after launching our new YouTube channel, those nice people at Lancaster Insurance have agreed to provide sponsorship to help us develop new channel content. This will enable us to produce more new videos for you to enjoy by assisting with the costs incurred when filming in locations around the country. It's also a real boost for our credibility coming as it does from a widely respected headline sponsor of classic motoring in the UK. If you haven't already seen what we've done to date, you can take a look now by clicking anywhere on the image below. That will take you to our YouTube channel and you will be prompted to subscribe to our channel while you're there. This is completely free and is nothing to be concerned about - it's just a handy service that will automatically let you know when we upload something new to the channel in the future. Lancaster Insurance Car Club Manager Dave Youngs says: We love the work that the club is producing through its YouTube channel and are delighted to be able to sponsor this to help the club with its future video production. Check out our latest YouTube videos belowWe hope this short video will put a smile on a few faces and give us the opportunity to share our best wishes with all our members for a very happy Christmas and - hopefully - a 'returning to normality' Happy New Year. Thank you to everyone who has contributed in any way to another strong year for the group - plans for 2022 are already in hand and there's much to look forward to. Social Media is changing rapidly - the pleasure to be had from simply sharing photos with each other is now becoming old hat. People are increasingly expecting more - to help them feel more involved and engaged. Specifically they now want video to entertain them in whatever subject or field interests them. This changing landscape has given us the push we needed to branch out into video production. From car shows to member profiles (including their pride and joy classics of course) to club runs and other club events, we plan to capture it all as it happens. In this way, members who are too distant to take part in person or dont own a classic themselves will be able to get closer to the action. Take a look at some of our most recent videos
As you can see we've already begun, and whilst it's a steep learning curve we are confident that we can produce ever-improving video content for you to enjoy as our experience grows - but we can't do it without your help. To do more, We need your help - please subscribe! No, we are not talking about money. At present we are on only the most basic type of YouTube channel - which limits the features and benefits available for us to use to make better content for you. We need to grow our current subscriber numbers from the current level of 130 to a minimum of 1,000 - this will unlock a number of important features we want to use and just as importantly showing us that you are interested and it's worth the cost, time and effort involved in producing video content for you. You can help us even more by:
What's coming on our YouTube? Moving into 2022, we plan to film the following and more:
If you have ideas for other subjects worth filming, let us know. We do this in our spare time but are keen to make a success of this, so please subscribe via the button below - it only takes a moment and really is completely free. New to YouTube? What is a YouTube subscriber and how do I subscribe? You can subscribe to channels you like in order to see more content from those channels. You can find a Subscribe button under any YouTube video or on a channel's page. Once you subscribe to a channel, any new videos it publishes will show up in your Subscriptions feed. You may also start getting notifications when a channel you subscribe to publishes new content. By default, YouTube only send you the highlights from the channel. There is no cost when you subscribe - it merely flags to YouTube that you want to see more from a particular channel. I hope you will indulge me this one - it started out to be a preview of the 'Members' Cars' video feature that Gar is planning, but accidentally turned into a tribute of sorts to my late friend Lesley. It features my '54 Daimler Conquest and Lesley's '28 Ford. I hope you enjoy it. In memory of my dear friend Lesley who passed away earlier this year. For the past few years we worked together providing tours of the area using our classic cars - Lesley in Buttercup (her 1928 Ford Model A), and me in Queenie (my Daimler Conquest). We had such great times together - laughter was never more than a minute away and I know our tourists felt the vibe and enjoyed it too. Lesley had been fighting cancer for around 5 years - twice being declared in remission, but it finally beat her this year. RIP dear friend, I miss you. Enthusiasts at the NEC Resto Show in March 2018I continued browsing my computer for good stuff from past group events and soon decided there was more than enough from 2018's Resto Show to make an enjoyable few minutes and hopefully whip up some enthusiasm for the next Resto Show in March 2022. PLEASE don't forget to Like, Comment and Subscribe on our YouTube channel - it really helps us out Enthusiasts at the NEC Resto Show in March 2018 features our club stand at this prestigious and fun show at Birmingham's NEC. Our stand was a big hit with show-goers, and member Paul won a Pride of Ownership award for his MGBGT and got to meet the celebs! Above all, there were many excellent British classic cars and not a small amount of cake consumed! By Paul Sweeney. Some months ago, the then Graham Adams and Sue Clamp (now Mr & Mrs!) very kindly organised a driving tour for the group, which they named, "The Staffs Oatcake Tour" - no, I didnt understand it either. Anyhow, the tour had an excellent turnout and was a huge success. I've been sitting on the photos from the tour ever since, and only just realised I also had a nice little video clip someone (perhaps Tosh?) had filmed as the gang were sitting around on the campsite enjoying a hearty meal that I suspect may have been the work of a certain Mr Gar Cole (does anyone else cook for everybody on tour?). Organiser Graham also turned up trumps with two previously unavailable video clips that I was keen to share. So anyway ... it was too good to miss, so I've put it all together in a video that you can view below (and please please remember to comment, Like and Subscribe on YouTube!). I hope those who were there will enjoy it as much as the rest of us who can only imagine being able to take part. Someday I'll make it! We have good news and not-so-good news, folks. The good news is that - as planned - quite a bit of video was filmed at the NEC Classic Motor Show recently. The bad news is that due to an unplanned technical glitch we have as yet been unable to access that footage to share it with you. We are however hopeful of recovering some if not all of the lost footage with a little help from our friends and will keep you posted on that over the next week or so. In the meantime we've done the next best thing and put together this short video from the clips we HAVE got hold of - with thanks to Mike and Sophie Peake. Yer 'tis below - and please remember to subscribe to our YouTube channel! YouTube Channel news - we need your supportWe just went past the 40 subscriber milestone on our new channel, which is great - but we need your help to reach at least 1,000 which will unlock more YouTube features and will make our channel easier to find as well as more enjoyable. So if you haven't already done so please subscribe. It's 100% free and just means you will receive a notification whenever we upload new content. Here's the link to our YouTube channel - please click this link then hit the 'Subscribe' button you will see there https://bit.ly/3G0JqsY And in case you're wondering what you will find on our channel, here's our latest video. It was filmed during the group's successful driving tour in Cumbria earlier this month and represents the kind of content we are looking to produce more often in the future. |
