Viewing and the Sale will be held at Showell Farm Buildings, Showell, Chippenham SN15 2NU Online Bidders - we've white labelled with ATG/the-saleroom and by doing so have managed to secure better rates for our direct bidders. Cars and motorcycles will remain at 2.4% (inc VAT) online fees whilst all else across both our businesses is 3.6% (inc VAT). There is one important measure that you must take however, if you plan to bid through the internet, and that is that this reduced rate only applies if you register and bid through our website and not directly through the-saleroom.com which stays at 6%, there's no profit here for us, just a preferential rate we negotiated for customers registering through us.
Do call us on 01249 444544 if you've any questions in the meantime, that will receive a quicker response that email at this stage. Many thanks, from all the team. A message from Richard Edmonds Auctions Ltd. A reminder of our Petroliana Sale this weekend. Please click below for this sale's catalogue. We also added an additional 30+ lots yesterday bringing the sale to 691 lots so there are some fresh lots to view.
One last thing to mention, sadly we are struggling to find a caterer during this festival season so please do come prepared with sandwiches. We will continue the search and naturally will be able to provide refreshments but food is, at present, proving a challenge, so sorry. Further down the line we hope to open an on-site café but that's not for the short term, our apologies.

We hope this email finds you well. With our next Petroliana sale being a few months off we thought it might interest some of you to learn that Chippenham Auction Rooms (our sister company) has a sale including Petroliana on Saturday 17th July.
This is a two day sale with an extensive private collection of science fiction and TV related toys, two private collections of vinyl records, pop memorabilia, stamps, coins, postcards etc. being sold on Thursday 15th July and then 400+ lots of enamel signs, shop display pieces, petroliana and motoring ephemera and other early advertising being sold on Saturday 17th July.

When we set these dates we imagined we'd be post 'hug day', however, that has been postponed so once again we find ourselves setting out the Covid-secure plans. As desperate as we all are to return to bidding 'in-the-room', we're mindful of the risks still there and have sought advice.
We are able to confirm that we can offer in-the-room bidding but this is limited. To invite a select number of customers would of course be an impossible quest for us. We will not make our sales exclusive and so here is our offering: there are to be no reserved seats, it will not be a first come first served on the day either.
What we suggest is a fair turn-around and so we can have a set number of people in the room. This will work fairly if customers come in for the lots they are interested in and exit temporarily afterwards. The saleroom shutter will be open and we will take bids from outside in the carpark with a porter mediating when necessary.
To be fair to all, no-one will be able to reside in the saleroom for the duration of the sale regardless of the number of lots that hold interest unless the number attending is below the number we can accommodate. The situation is far from ideal but we ask you to be patient with us and fellow bidders, this is a trial for us all and will only work if we're all mindful of one-another.
We desperately want this to work and will do our utmost to smooth the process for you and we are of course pleased we can return to seeing our bidders and offering the opportunity to view the lots in person. To manage numbers we ask please that you email or call the office to notify us of your intent to attend. Please supply your name and contact number. If numbers are looking to get out of hand we'll need to limit numbers but we're not anticipating that at this stage.

We hope this email finds you well. This Saturday we will be holding our first live, 'in-the-room' motorcycle sale since last autumn. The date, as you can imagine, was set for the first weekend out of lockdown, post 'hug day', however, that has been postponed so once again we find ourselves setting out the Covid-secure plans. We'll go into that detail below but let's put that to one side, as one can in an email, and focus on the positives - a fantastic collection of bikes on offer - 70 in all and 160 spares.
The highlight of the sale is probably the Manx Norton (pictured below) with racing history in the 1970s and '80s. There's 12 classic Triumphs including several Bonnevilles, Tiger 100s etc. Also a collection of pre-war bikes ripe for restoration including Douglas, BSA and AJS as well as at the other end of the scale a 2000 MV Agusta F4, a Honda Goldring and a 1972 Harley Davidson Electraglide.
Amongst the spares are approximately 30 lots of Douglas parts and projects and a large quantity of Norton spares from a single owner collection.

What we suggest is a fair turn-around and so we can have a set number of people in the room (the number has not yet been fixed and will depend of measurements taken once the bikes have all arrived and are in place). This will work fairly if customers come in for the lots they are interested in and exit temporarily afterwards. The barn doors will be open and we will take bids from outside in the carpark with a porter mediating when necessary. To be fair to all, no-one will be able to reside in the saleroom for the duration of the sale regardless of the number of lots that hold interest unless the number attending is below the number we can accommodate. Sale this week
We're thrilled to be putting on our first 'in-the-room' sale this weekend and look forward to welcoming you back to Chippenham from tomorrow when we go on view. We've been given the go-ahead to taking bookings from up to 100 guests. Both viewing and seats for the sale are strictly by reservation only.
With having such a heavy restriction placed on us, due to Covid-19, we do ask that if you book a place and then find you won't be attending that you kindly let us know as we anticipate we'll have to hold a reserve list - a very alien concept to be limiting numbers when we've spent years encouraging the reverse!
We are however, of course, not restricted online and so actively encourage online bidding, booking a telephone line (to save yourself the online fee) or leaving a commission bid with us by phone or email.
Viewing: Thursday 10am-5pm, Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday 8.30am-5pm

Next Saturday, the 6th, we are offering 959 lots including enamel signs, petrol pumps and globes, oil cans, showcards, tins, mascots etc. The full catalogue is now online, link below. Do use this link as we've still a few images to upload to our website but the-saleroom has the full listings. |
In light of the lockdown, all auctioneers in England at present must be closed to visitors, can offer online-only auctions and a click and collect contactless collection or delivery. So unfortunately there is strictly no viewing, our premises are closed. Although in-the-room viewing isn't permitted we can offer live video viewing, please call Richard at the office or email us if you would like to book a video inspection of any lot (contact details at the bottom of this email).
Telephone bidding is available for all lots as well as absentee bidding, there are no charges for either of these if booked directly with us. If you do plan to book a phone line we would ask you kindly to do this as soon as is feasible as we must plan staffing and would like to ensure we have enough phone operators. Online bidding is also available via the catalogue link above.
Hoping you and your love ones are keeping safe and well, we miss seeing you here and look forward to speaking/emailing with you and seeing you in person as soon as possible.

Hoping you and your loved ones are keeping safe and well, we miss seeing you here and look forward to speaking/emailing with you and seeing you in person as soon as possible.

A message from Richard Edmonds Auctions.
Happy New Year!
We wish you an abundance of blessings this year and success in your collecting.
In terms of sale planning, we're taking each quarter as it comes and so have the following sales diarised for this quarter:
Venues and timings tba nearer the time plus any Covid rulings of the time and how we'll be applying them to the sales. We're ploughing ahead and will hold all these sales and will endeavour to ensure the lots can reach you if we're not able to see you in person. We'll also be offering video viewings and whatever is needed to reach as many of you as we can and bring back that auction experience you're used to.
If you're not already, do follow our Instagram or Facebook pages as these are so easy to update and so are the first place we head to when we've items to showcase.
Hoping to see some of you in person this year, it's really part of the whole collecting experience! Back in the office tomorrow, do call us if you have any items you're considering entering for the sales.
All the best

Motor Cars, Automobilia and Related Spares This Saturday
We have cars from a 1901 Renault to a 1987 Ferrari and a lot in between so this sale is well worth a look. We are delighted to be offering a private collection of Veteran and Edwardian cars, in addition to many exciting sports cars from the 1960s and 1970s. | Viewing by appointment on Wednesday 16th, Thursday 17th and Friday 18th 10am-5pm, plus sale day from 8.00am with the sale starting at 9am. Entry is by catalogue £10 - available on the door. |
This Saturday the 19th we are offering 60 motor cars and 670 lots of related spares and automobilia at our new venue Showell Farm, near Chippenham, SN15 2NU. This is our new permanent site, which we plan to develop over time, however at this stage the sales will be held in a marquee until development work begins.
These are far from normal times but we are delighted to offer the opportunity to view and even attend the sale. This email will provide all the information you require so do take a moment to read right to the end!
Viewing
We have advertised that the sale may be viewed on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th by appointment, but we will extend this to Wednesday 17th also. Please do get in touch to book a time slot, in order for us to maintain social distancing.
Sale day
We intend to hold this as a live sale, bidding will be available by many methods, absentee bidding, telephone bidding, online bidding (through the-saleroom.com) and also we will be having limited bidding in person. In order to maintain social distancing we would ask that any prospective buyers pre-register to book their slot at the sale, please email your details so we can book you in, this does not necessarily guarantee your place, we will then confirm your place, with your paddle number.
Please tell us if you would like to come to bid on the spares or the cars or both, please don't say both just to be an observer, as space is limited and we want to ensure that all buyers in the relevant sections have the opportunity to bid
We certainly don’t wish to be exclusive and would rather open the doors to all, but for the safety of our customers and staff, we need to ensure that social distancing is maintained and limiting numbers is the only way we can achieve this. Do not leave this to the day, anyone who arrives without having pre-registered will unfortunately be turned away. If for any reason you decide not to attend, once booked in, please do not take the opportunity away from someone else and let us know so we can offer your place to our waiting list.
vendors
We would ask that unless you are planning to bid on a lot or lots, we would sadly ask that you do not attend. This is not our normal practice and we apologise in advance, but our aim is to achieve the best possible price for you by maximising the attendance of bidders. The sale can be viewed live through www.the-saleroom.com
You will still receive a warm welcome from us, albeit through a mask, and we are thrilled to be able to bring to the market some wonderful machinery.
The cars are on our website, link below, and the spares are on www.the-saleroom.com
