Good news - Richard Edmonds Auctions Ltd

Sponsored by Richard Edmonds Auctions Ltd.
We have brilliant news for you this month. Those of you who've kept an eye on the catalogue this last week will have noticed that there's a change to our website. We've white labelled with ATG/the-saleroom and by doing so have managed to secure better rates for our bidders.

Cars and motorcycles will remain at 1.2% online fees whilst all else across both our businesses has halved to 3%. With more and more business now conducted online since Covid times, this has been a priority.

There is one important measure that you must take however, if you plan to bid through the website, and that is that this reduced rate only applies if you register and bid through our website and not directly through the-saleroom.com

Petroliana sale, Saturday 17th July

7/7/2021

Message sponsored by Richard  Edmonds Auctions Ltd.
We hope this email finds you well. With our next Petroliana sale being a few months off we thought it might interest some of you to learn that Chippenham Auction Rooms (our sister company) has a sale including Petroliana on Saturday 17th July.

This is a two day sale with an extensive private collection of science fiction and TV related toys, two private collections of vinyl records, pop memorabilia, stamps, coins, postcards etc. being sold on Thursday 15th July and then 400+ lots of enamel signs, shop display pieces, petroliana and motoring ephemera and other early advertising being sold on Saturday 17th July.
View Catalogue
When we set these dates we imagined we'd be post 'hug day', however, that has been postponed so once again we find ourselves setting out the Covid-secure plans. As desperate as we all are to return to bidding 'in-the-room', we're mindful of the risks still there and have sought advice.

We are able to confirm that we can offer in-the-room bidding but this is limited. To invite a select number of customers would of course be an impossible quest for us. We will not make our sales exclusive and so here is our offering: there are to be no reserved seats, it will not be a first come first served on the day either.

What we suggest is a fair turn-around and so we can have a set number of people in the room. This will work fairly if customers come in for the lots they are interested in and exit temporarily afterwards. The saleroom shutter will be open and we will take bids from outside in the carpark with a porter mediating when necessary.

To be fair to all, no-one will be able to reside in the saleroom for the duration of the sale regardless of the number of lots that hold interest unless the number attending is below the number we can accommodate. The situation is far from ideal but we ask you to be patient with us and fellow bidders, this is a trial for us all and will only work if we're all mindful of one-another.

We desperately want this to work and will do our utmost to smooth the process for you and we are of course pleased we can return to seeing our bidders and offering the opportunity to view the lots in person. To manage numbers we ask please that you email or call the office to notify us of your intent to attend. Please supply your name and contact number. If numbers are looking to get out of hand we'll need to limit numbers but we're not anticipating that at this stage.
If you are able to view before the day then we advise that you do, as with the limited numbers able to view at one time, viewing may be difficult especially for Saturday's viewers.
Viewing: Wednesday 10am-5pm, Thursday 8.30am-5pm, Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday from 8.30am, Sales starting at 9.30am.
In addition to in the room bidding, bids can be left with us, live bidding over the telephone available as well as through the-saleroom.com

Refreshments will be available.

Vintage & Classic Motorcycles and Spares sale this week

We hope this email finds you well. This Saturday we will be holding our first live, 'in-the-room' motorcycle sale since last autumn. The date, as you can imagine, was set for the first weekend out of lockdown, post 'hug day', however, that has been postponed so once again we find ourselves setting out the Covid-secure plans. We'll go into that detail below but let's put that to one side, as one can in an email, and focus on the positives - a fantastic collection of bikes on offer - 70 in all and 160 spares.

The highlight of the sale is probably the Manx Norton (pictured below) with racing history in the 1970s and '80s. There's 12 classic Triumphs including several Bonnevilles, Tiger 100s etc. Also a collection of pre-war bikes ripe for restoration including Douglas, BSA and AJS as well as at the other end of the scale a 2000 MV Agusta F4, a Honda Goldring and a 1972 Harley Davidson Electraglide.
Amongst the spares are approximately 30 lots of Douglas parts and projects and a large quantity of Norton spares from a single owner collection.

As desperate as we all are to return to bidding 'in-the-room', we're mindful of the risks still there and have sought advice. We are able to confirm that we can offer in-the-room bidding but this is limited. To invite a select number of customers would of course be an impossible quest for us. We will not make our sales exclusive and so here is our offering. There are to be no reserved seats, it will not be a first come first served on the day either. What we suggest is a fair turn-around and so we can have a set number of people in the room (the number has not yet been fixed and will depend of measurements taken once the bikes have all arrived and are in place). This will work fairly if customers come in for the lots they are interested in and exit temporarily afterwards. The barn doors will be open and we will take bids from outside in the carpark with a porter mediating when necessary. We desperately want this to work and will do our utmost to smooth the process for you and we are of course pleased we can return to seeing our bidders and offering the opportunity to view the bikes in person. To manage numbers we ask please that you email or call the office to notify us of your intent to attend. Please supply your name and contact number. If numbers are looking to get out of hand we'll need to limit numbers but we're not anticipating that at this stage.

If you are able to view before the day then we advise that you do, as with the limited numbers able to view at one time, viewing may be difficult for Saturday's viewers.

Viewing: Thursday 10am-5pm, Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday from 8.30am, Sale starting at 10am for spares and approximately 11.15am for bikes.

In addition to in the room bidding, bids can be left with us, live bidding over the telephone available as well as through the-saleroom.com Refreshments will be available.

Veteran, Vintage & Classic Cars and Spares Sale

Sponsored message from Richard Edmonds Auctions Ltd.

Sale this week

We're thrilled to be putting on our first 'in-the-room' sale this weekend and look forward to welcoming you back to Chippenham from tomorrow when we go on view. We've been given the go-ahead to taking bookings from up to 100 guests. Both viewing and seats for the sale are strictly by reservation only.

With having such a heavy restriction placed on us, due to Covid-19, we do ask that if you book a place and then find you won't be attending that you kindly let us know as we anticipate we'll have to hold a reserve list - a very alien concept to be limiting numbers when we've spent years encouraging the reverse!

We are however, of course, not restricted online and so actively encourage online bidding, booking a telephone line (to save yourself the online fee) or leaving a commission bid with us by phone or email.
Viewing: Thursday 10am-5pm, Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday 8.30am-5pm

Lastly a few dates for the diary. Further select entries are invited for our next Petroliana sale on 12th June and Motorcycles sale on 26th June.

VIEW CATALOGUE
This Saturday the 19th we are offering 60 motor cars and 670 lots of related spares and automobilia at our new venue Showell Farm, near Chippenham, SN15 2NU. This is our new permanent site, which we plan to develop over time, however at this stage the sales will be held in a marquee until development work begins.

Sale day

We intend to hold this as a live sale, bidding will be available by many methods, absentee bidding, telephone bidding, online bidding (through the-saleroom.com) and also we will be having limited bidding in person. In order to maintain social distancing we would ask that any prospective buyers pre-register to book their slot at the sale, please email your details so we can book you in, this does not necessarily guarantee your place, we will then confirm your place, with your paddle number.
Please tell us if you would like to come to bid on the spares or the cars or both, please don't say both just to be an observer, as space is limited and we want to ensure that all buyers in the relevant sections have the opportunity to bid
We certainly don’t wish to be exclusive and would rather open the doors to all, but for the safety of our customers and staff, we need to ensure that social distancing is maintained and limiting numbers is the only way we can achieve this. Do not leave this to the day, anyone who arrives without having pre-registered will unfortunately be turned away. If for any reason you decide not to attend, once booked in, please do not take the opportunity away from someone else and let us know so we can offer your place to our waiting list.

vendors

We would ask that unless you are planning to bid on a lot or lots, we would sadly ask that you do not attend. This is not our normal practice and we apologise in advance, but our aim is to achieve the best possible price for you by maximising the attendance of bidders. The sale can be viewed live through www.the-saleroom.com

You will still receive a warm welcome from us, albeit through a mask, and we are thrilled to be able to bring to the market some wonderful machinery.
The cars are on our website, link below, and the spares are on www.the-saleroom.com
Please note that we can no longer receive payment by credit card or cheque but debit card, cash (up to £8,800) and our preferred payment method of bank transfer will all enable immediate collection.

Our catalogue is now online with approximately 700 lots of Petroliana including an extensive collection of oil cans and oilers, a good selection of globes from a private collection, a significant number of enamel signs and other early advertising.

We are relieved to now be able to offer viewing for this sale, by appointment, where you will be most welcome and can be assured of maintaining social distancing.
The sale itself on Saturday will run as previously, Richard will be taking bids on the telephone, online and by commission bids.

Having not emailed for some weeks now we thought we'd like to get in touch and update you on how we are currently operating. We are still, sadly, online-only for our sales but are open to revising this on a daily basis! Any whiff of change from the government and we'll do an about-turn for any of our sales.
With regards to cars and bikes, we're incredibly frustrated as have the best entries we've ever had in both of these fields all lined up. Behind the scenes we've prepared these sales ready to press the button, but for both buyers and sellers, we're holding off, believing that these are purchases that are best advised to be seen. We now feel capable of offering in-the-room viewing by appointment but not bidding. We couldn't select a number of bidders, we're not elitist and opening to a first-come-first-in is grossly unfair to those that live afar (most of you!) So, we'll wait on these sales but please keep an eye on emails as we've a 1929 Alfa-Romeo 6C Supercharged with Zagato coachwork, several Veteran and Edwardian cars from a significant collection, over 60 motorcycles including a Vincent Black Shadow, a Manx Norton and so much more but that's, as we say, for some time soon.
On a very positive note, what on earth has happened to our Petroliana hobby/obsession since lockdown? Boom! Well, we're never in short supply and have some cracking lots lined up for the 11th July sale including a Power garage forecourt clock, the BP Winner pictured above, a pair of Shell lantern lightboxes, several rare globes, enamel signs... keep looking at Instagram and Facebook, we're not quiet about it!
Our exciting news is that the Covid-19 delay in building our new premises has been lifted and things are underway. Last week the land was cleared, this week we've another architect's meeting and we'll be diverting you over there asap.
Please scrap the 2020 calendar issued in January we're staying flexible until lockdown is over. Please stay safe (obviously alert ;) ) and do call us if you have anything you're considering entering for auction. We'll not see you at Beaulieu this year sadly but do hope we'll meet again in person at auction very soon.
We'll post as soon as the catalogue is online. Do remember we will offer phone lines on all lots and bids can be left, online bidding is not the only choice.

Kindest regards from us all at Richard Edmonds Auctions

Our catalogue is now complete, this is a live online auction only - there is regretfully no viewing in person. You can book a telephone line and leave bids either by telephone or email to avoid the-saleroom fees or there is live bidding via the-saleroom.com (link below).

We understand that it will be disappointing not to be viewing in person however we invite you to book live FaceTime or Zoom calls with us where we can show you the lots by video link. We've added many more photographs than usual for each lot which we hope will satisfy most of your questions.

We have 650 lots for your perusal ranging from petrol pumps and globes, light boxes and clocks, over 100 enamel signs, a number of show cards, a huge array of rare and unusual tins and lots more.
