We hope this short video will put a smile on a few faces and give us the opportunity to share our best wishes with all our members for a very happy Christmas and - hopefully - a 'returning to normality' Happy New Year. Thank you to everyone who has contributed in any way to another strong year for the group - plans for 2022 are already in hand and there's much to look forward to. Social Media is changing rapidly - the pleasure to be had from simply sharing photos with each other is now becoming old hat. People are increasingly expecting more - to help them feel more involved and engaged. Specifically they now want video to entertain them in whatever subject or field interests them. This changing landscape has given us the push we needed to branch out into video production. From car shows to member profiles (including their pride and joy classics of course) to club runs and other club events, we plan to capture it all as it happens. In this way, members who are too distant to take part in person or dont own a classic themselves will be able to get closer to the action. Take a look at some of our most recent videos
As you can see we've already begun, and whilst it's a steep learning curve we are confident that we can produce ever-improving video content for you to enjoy as our experience grows - but we can't do it without your help. To do more, We need your help - please subscribe! No, we are not talking about money. At present we are on only the most basic type of YouTube channel - which limits the features and benefits available for us to use to make better content for you. We need to grow our current subscriber numbers from the current level of 130 to a minimum of 1,000 - this will unlock a number of important features we want to use and just as importantly showing us that you are interested and it's worth the cost, time and effort involved in producing video content for you. You can help us even more by:
What's coming on our YouTube? Moving into 2022, we plan to film the following and more:
If you have ideas for other subjects worth filming, let us know. We do this in our spare time but are keen to make a success of this, so please subscribe via the button below - it only takes a moment and really is completely free. New to YouTube? What is a YouTube subscriber and how do I subscribe? You can subscribe to channels you like in order to see more content from those channels. You can find a Subscribe button under any YouTube video or on a channel's page. Once you subscribe to a channel, any new videos it publishes will show up in your Subscriptions feed. You may also start getting notifications when a channel you subscribe to publishes new content. By default, YouTube only send you the highlights from the channel. There is no cost when you subscribe - it merely flags to YouTube that you want to see more from a particular channel. I hope you will indulge me this one - it started out to be a preview of the 'Members' Cars' video feature that Gar is planning, but accidentally turned into a tribute of sorts to my late friend Lesley. It features my '54 Daimler Conquest and Lesley's '28 Ford. I hope you enjoy it. In memory of my dear friend Lesley who passed away earlier this year. For the past few years we worked together providing tours of the area using our classic cars - Lesley in Buttercup (her 1928 Ford Model A), and me in Queenie (my Daimler Conquest). We had such great times together - laughter was never more than a minute away and I know our tourists felt the vibe and enjoyed it too. Lesley had been fighting cancer for around 5 years - twice being declared in remission, but it finally beat her this year. RIP dear friend, I miss you. By Paul Sweeney and Emily-Fleur Peake. Our group started as purely a Facebook group way back in early 2014 - since then it has grown massively and our online presence has spread across several different platforms. This article summarises where we currently are with them all and shows that each platform appeals to some extent to a different audience. The early days of rapid exponential growth are behind us and we are now in a period of organic growth which we expect to continue with no dramatic rises or falls in membership numbers. Our membership is loyal and mature with very few issues arising - the troublesome 'Wild West Days' are well behind us and the group has become 'low maintenance', allowing Admin to increasingly focus energies on the emerging platforms mentioned below as well as the group's real-world activities - driving tours, major shows and the like.
Our group Instagram account was launched last year and under Emily-Fleur's management it has flourished and is bringing us to the attention of a whole new audience - much as we hope YouTube will do in time. As well as reaching new audiences, Instagram is a great way to engage with other car clubs and some bigger names and companies in the classic car world that wouldn't necessarily interact with the Facebook group. It's interesting to see the high response levels on Instagram - probably reflecting a younger, more computer-savvy demographic who tend to favour Instagram over the longer-established Facebook platform that appeals more to an older demographic.
YouTubeYouTube is our newest online platform. Although the channel was created in May 2021, the first video made specifically for YouTube was filmed during the Fat Lamb tour and published late in October. We are still on a learning curve in terms of video topics, photography/setup and editing & production but feel we are on the right track and hope to make major strides forward during 2022.

WebsiteOur official website is several years old now and continues to function well as the home for news, blogs, photo galleries and our online shop (which is now also available on the Facebook and Instagram platforms). The design and content continues to evolve but as with Facebook our audience is mature and relatively stable.
Online Shop (2021 activity)The shop continues to provide a revenue stream which is fully reinvested in the group's activities, allowing us to fund - without any member subscriptions - ever-better large show stands and the purchase of more professional display equipment and other items such as a Go Pro camera to support our YouTube development plans.
Enthusiasts at the NEC Resto Show in March 2018I continued browsing my computer for good stuff from past group events and soon decided there was more than enough from 2018's Resto Show to make an enjoyable few minutes and hopefully whip up some enthusiasm for the next Resto Show in March 2022. PLEASE don't forget to Like, Comment and Subscribe on our YouTube channel - it really helps us out Enthusiasts at the NEC Resto Show in March 2018 features our club stand at this prestigious and fun show at Birmingham's NEC. Our stand was a big hit with show-goers, and member Paul won a Pride of Ownership award for his MGBGT and got to meet the celebs! Above all, there were many excellent British classic cars and not a small amount of cake consumed! |
