by Gar Cole. This tour aims to take in some of the best driving roads and scenery Yorkshire has to offer, leaving base camp at Filey we will first cross to Thornton le Dale and visit with Matthewson’s auction house and see what’s being processed that day ( bidding optional ). From here we head north towards Hutton-le-Hole and visit the chocolate making shop that was closed last time ( booo!), from here we head towards Rosedale Abbey via the 1 in 3 climb to Chimney bank, refreshment stop at bank top kilns viewing point.
We leave chimney bank and cross through the heart of the moors national park on the Knott road towards Castletown, then pass through Ainthorpe, Danby and a further photo stop at Scaling Dam. We reach the coast road at Sandsend, before following the coastal road down to Whitby for local Fish n Chips , turning on and off the A174 we will pass through Robin Hoods bay, Crowdon, Cloughton Newlands before reaching Scarborough sea front , after photos a steady run along the coast road back to Filey and base camp. By Gar Cole. Back by popular demand, we return to the Peak District for the 3rd time, building on the best of what we visited previously, so you can expect a beautiful driving route taking in such favourites as the Ladybower Reservoir, the Goyt Valley, the village of Flash and other stunning sights.
Start and finish point will be base camp at Middlehills Farm camp site. The admin team will be camping from Friday to Sunday. You are welcome to join us at camp, stay in local accommodation or just visit for the day, as ever our events are free to join and Pre-Millennial cars are welcome to join us. YouTube Channel news - we need your supportWe just went past the 40 subscriber milestone on our new channel, which is great - but we need your help to reach at least 1,000 which will unlock more YouTube features and will make our channel easier to find as well as more enjoyable. So if you haven't already done so please subscribe. It's 100% free and just means you will receive a notification whenever we upload new content. Here's the link to our YouTube channel - please click this link then hit the 'Subscribe' button you will see there https://bit.ly/3G0JqsY And in case you're wondering what you will find on our channel, here's our latest video. It was filmed during the group's successful driving tour in Cumbria earlier this month and represents the kind of content we are looking to produce more often in the future. By Paul Sweeney. As some of you will already know, we recently invested in a Go Pro camera to record our activities out in the real world in glorious sparking 4K High Definition quality, the idea being to share our tours and events with all those who like myself cannot be there in person for whatever reasons. After some practice, Gar and I were ready to have our first try at filming for the Fat Lamb tour which happened over the weekend of 9-10 October this year. Gar volunteered to do all the filming then sent the raw footage over to me to edit down in New Zealand and hopefully make something watchable out of it for you all to enjoy. It was quite the joint effort and definitely a steep learning curve for us both, but Gar and I had a lot of fun working as a team across time zones. We both feel we've done our best but also that this was only the first time and we will definitely improve with practice - we hope you will look at the end product with that in mind!
I'd like to express my personal thanks to Gar; working alone on this project here in NZ was great fun but a fresh set of eyes on what I was doing as work progressed was invaluable. Some of the little touches you might notice in the video happened entirely due to his imagination and enthusiasm - many thanks for that, Gar. The results of our labour will be available from 7am tomorrow UK time on our YouTube channel and below - please watch and if you enjoy it give it a Like and Subscribe to the channel. We intend to do more at future events, the next being the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at the NEC next month, so watch this space! It is time once again to celebrate your car club heroes, as Classic & Sports Car’s Club Awards returns for 2021. We would really appreciate some nominations in one or more categories - they are listed below. The categories are:
Andrew Evanson, Senior Operations Manager at Lancaster Insurance Services says: We’re delighted to be the headline sponsor of the awards again this year. After what’s been a challenging 18 months for many, it will be great to see everyone’s smiling faces once again and to help honour the great work the clubs have been continuing to undertake for their members. Please note that it is not the volume of nominations received for a particular person or club that counts, but the quality of each nomination. Tell us what makes this individual, event, content or club special.
Nominations close at 23:59 on Sunday 31 October 2021. And following 2020’s virtual awards, we hope to return with an in-person ceremony at the NEC Classic Motor Show in Birmingham on 12 November, where we will also choose the best cars and club stands in the halls, to show our appreciation for the great British car club community. Press Release. NEC CLASSIC SHOWCASES ELECTRIC CLASSICS IN MOTION
This year’s Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery, is embracing the future with a brand new feature showcasing not only the look of classic electric cars but also how they drive. Twice-daily, a range of electric classics will be driving around a purpose built oval within Hall 5, next to the Discovery Live Stage, with Wheeler Dealers’ Mike Brewer talking to the various companies and owners. Show Director Lee Masters said: Electric cars may seem like they’re fast becoming part of our future but what most people don’t realise is that they’ve been part of our motoring heritage for over 100 years. This includes the 1912 Baker Electric, on loan from Mr Andrew Wood. Manufactured in Ohio from 1899 to 1914, the first Baker vehicle was a two seater with a selling price of $850 and boasted Thomas Edison as one of its first buyers. Edison also designed the nickel-iron batteries used in some Baker Electrics. Unlike other early cars, the Baker Electric needed no cranking, had no gasoline smell and was essentially maintenance-free. Not surprisingly, it was marketed to women. In late 1910, the Baker Electric was quite luxurious and priced at $2,800. It had a seating capacity of four passengers. These days, owners include Jay Leno in the USA and there are only three Baker Electrics on the UK’s DVLA database including this example, of the 85 historic vehicles powered by electricity. Amongst the other electric cars that will be driving will be the Porsche 356 inspired Electric Chesil E, the Westfield Eleven, an electric replica of the iconic Lotus Eleven produced in the 1950’s to race at Le mans, and the Westfield Sports. The RBW Electric Roadster ‘restomod’ will also feature. The roadster is a brand new electric car with a MGB heritage bodyshell that has been slightly modified. Whilst the car has all the styling of a classic car, it drives like a modern sports car. These will be joined by converted classic cars from Electric Classic Cars, the subject of Discovery Channel’s Vintage Voltage. Founder Richard Morgan has converted a whole range of cars from a Mini and a Land Rover to a Ferrari and BMW 2002. Masters added: With some classics being converted and other ‘restomods’ coming to market, we wanted to highlight the options available to enthusiasts who are interested in electric motoring but still want that classic styling. It’s a perfect fit for our show theme of The Journey Continues… The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery, will be held at Birmingham’s NEC from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 November 2021. Tickets are on sale. Check the website www.necclassicmotorshow.com or sign up for the newsletter for the latest updates at www.necclassicmotorshow.com/newsletter.

Thanks to Anthony Osborne for sharing with us the 5th 2021 newsletter from the FBHVC (Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs). In this edition:
Ever since our Facebook group started back in 2014 the staple diet has been shared photographs, but things move on and it's becoming easier than ever to create and share crystal-clear high definition video with you all.
Whilst our Facebook group will continue 'as is' with photos and community sharing, we believe that developing a new video capability to complement our Facebook activities is the way forward. We are very excited about being able to bring group activities to life for everyone on your devices wherever you may be, whether you happen to be using a tablet/smartphone, a computer or a smart TV.
We intend to create as much exciting and engaging video content as we can based around official group activities in addition to some new ideas we have for occasional video features such as a regular spotlight on members' classics where we would interview the owners, walk around their cars and go for a drive, thus giving members a real taste of the classic car experience.
The first new material we expect to deliver will feature footage from our next driving tour and also our appearance at this year's Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show with Discovery at the NEC in November. To enable us to do this, we have invested in some new Go Pro camera equipment and have set up our own video channel on YouTube to host the films we want to make for you.
We have already started, testing out what we need to do and how to go about it; there is a lot to learn, but with your support we can only get better. We've created several videos by reusing existing photos and video clips from past events; the intention from here on with our shiny new gear is to step up the quality and bring you fresh new material as soon as we can.
How you can help
To make this work, we need your help and support; we need as many members as possible to subscribe to our channel - it's 100% free of charge, and will guarantee that you are notified every time we upload new content (this will probably be about once a month initially). And if you know anyone else who perhaps doesn't want to use Facebook but would enjoy watching our YouTube output, share it with them too - the more, the merrier!
Below are some preview thumbnails that are links to the content already there on our channel - do take a look, remembering to click Like on each video and subscribe to the channel so you'll be among the first to know when our new content is ready (it won't be far off). You can also post comments on the YouTube pages - it would be great to see some lively discussions there.
Please take a few minutes to browse what's already there and let us know your thoughts.
