Fun facts about your favourite car group (that's us)

  • Our group is a little over 6 years old now and has gained a loyal following of 27,000 members worldwide
  • The Admin team consists of 7, four based in the UK, one in America, one in New Zealand and 1 in the Netherlands
  • Of the 4 original founding members only one remains and that's our chairman John Simpson, writer and mechanic for Practical Classics magazine
  • Unusually for a Facebook group we also have our very own .com website, designed, built and maintained by Head of Admin Paul Sweeney. It is filled with photos of past shows and tours, blogs, latest news and our online shop, check it out at www.britishmotorvehicles.com
  • This group has a number of '1sts' to it's name;
    • we were the first non subscription Facebook group to hold a show on the public area outside Coventry museum
    • also the first Facebook group to book a full rally at Gaydon museum. We were due to share the display area with the Rolls Royce owners club who had booked the same day, however they were horrified at the idea of sharing with a free to all Facebook group and promptly cancelled their show
  • We are proud to say that in the last 4 years we have attended and displayed a stand at the NEC no less than 6 times - 3 times at the Restoration Show and 3 times at the main Classic Motor Show held in November
  • The group has been shortlisted 3 times in the National Car Club Awards and just last year we won a Judges' Trophy for the desirability of the vehicles on our stand
  • The group tours on average 6 times a year, driving on some of the best scenic roads the UK has to offer. Our tours are infamous for attracting bad weather; we have braved windswept campsites during record-breaking downpours which collapsed our group shelter, gale force winds and flooded pitches, but we always have a fantastic time
  • The group is widely recognised as a 'safe haven' for car enthusiasts of all models. Group rules are strictly enforced and trolling and disrespect happen only rarely, so much so that admin Mike Peake was invited to give a talk on the Live Stage at the NEC on how best to run and maintain a happy and safe social media group
  • The group has members right around the globe, interestingly outside of the UK the 4 countries with the most members are the USA, Australia, India and Malta
  • The group name ' EBMVBB1985 Car Club ' is etched onto a plaque on the bomb bay doors of the Vulcan bomber at Doncaster airport
  • The group shop once offered baseball caps for sale branded with the group logo. We sold a grand total of seven!
  • We are lucky to have 3 sponsors; Lancaster Insurance Services, Richard Edmonds Auctions and Alvaston Press - big thanks to all 3

Update - 2020 Classic Motor Show (NEC)

The organisers Clarion Events have reached agreement with the UK Govt that this year's Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show with Discovery will go ahead, albeit with a raft of additional health & safety measures in place.
We feel honoured that once again we have been offered the opportunity of a club stand at the show, however after much consideration and with considerable regret we have on this occasion decided to decline the offer. Our concern is above all for the health & well-being of our team. The organisers fully understand our decision and we hope to return to the large show scene at the Practical  Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show in March 2021 - subject of course to the pandemic situation prevailing at that time.

We're really excited to let you know that we are doing everything we can to bring the community together for the season finale in November, once the government gives the green light.

While we intend to bring you the show you know and love, some things will be a little different this year.

We're putting steps in place so you can feel confident that you are in as safe and secure environment as possible, as you immerse yourself in all things classic motoring.
Picture
Key changes include:

• Temperature checking upon arrival and face masks recommended
• Extended opening times with dedicated entry time and hall entrance options
• Widened aisles to enable easy viewing whilst maintaining physical distancing
• Hand sanitiser stations across the show
• Enhanced cleaning regime by venue and exhibitors

To see all the measures we are putting in place, in detail, head over to our Keeping You Safe page on our website.

For those of you keen to have something in the diary to look forward to, we're pleased to let you know you can now book tickets online. The booking process has been amended to accommodate the staggered entry and tickets will be limited and released over time.

In the meantime, help us keep the community talking. Follow us on social and take five minutes to share your favourite #MotoringMemories with us. Let's fill the timelines with all things classic motoring!

All going well, #WheelMeetAgain, in a few months!

Group Grille Badges are back - order now

Enthusiasts of British Motor Vehicles are proud to offer a 3rd production run of our custom-designed grille / bar badges featuring the group logo.
We are accepting orders from now until Midnight Saturday 11 July - our order will then be placed with the manufacturer and we anticipate receiving the finished badges ready to despatch to you approximately 7-9 weeks after that, so around mid September - but hopefully sooner.
It's a pleasure to see old-school craftsmanship still alive and well in the UK. Each badge comes with a 7 year anti-tarnish guarantee. I own one of the very first badges made for us. It is now 3 years old, lives outside in all weathers and still looks as good as new. It even survived a car fire earlier this year that destroyed my car!

Order now - offer closes 11 July. Free Group car sticker with every badge!
